Work Model:
Global Brigades utilizes a holistic development to aid and empower developing countries. Holistic Development is the system of collectively implementing health, economic, and education initiatives to strategically meet a community's development goals. For Global Brigades, it includes the preparation, delivery, and follow-up of nine unique programs conducted in collaboration with community members, student volunteers, and local technicians. It is a global development theory and methodology that suggests that sustainable change can be accomplished when a community's health, economic, and educational systems are collectively developed or improved together. - http://www.globalbrigades.org/model

About Our Chapter
Background:
Global Medical Brigades is a secular, international student-operated volunteer organization whose mission is to provide sustained health care to underserved communities throughout the world. Our Wayne State University Chapter recruits student volunteers and medical professionals, gathers medicine, and then travels overseas to perform these medical brigades. With a team of dedicated students, professors, and physicians, we travel to Honduras and Ghana to conduct our medical brigade missions. We will travel to Panama for the very first time this year on a Business Brigade as well. Participating students will also visit several community projects that aim to also better the quality of life in these impoverished areas.
Non-Profit:
Global Medical Brigades is a division of Global Brigades International, a 100% non-profit organization that is entirely student led and committed to sustainable, long-term development in impoverished regions of the world. At only $750 + Airfare ($1020 for medical and public health hybrid), we are proud to represent the most affordable study abroad option available on campus.
