Global Medical Brigades is a secular, international student-operated volunteer organization whose mission is to provide sustained health care to underserved communities throughout the world. Our Wayne State University Chapter recruits student volunteers and medical professionals, and then travels overseas to Honduras and Ghana to perform these medical brigades. Participating students will also visit several community projects that aim to also better the quality of life in these impoverished areas.

Public Health Brigades works specifically with four entities to carryout in-home infrastructure projects, improving health and hygiene community wide. The collaboration among all other GB program teams, local community members, local government, and our student volunteers plays an essential role in the completion and sustainability of each project. Each of the five projects – clean-burning stoves, cement floors, showers, water storage units and latrines – are designed to prevent many common and reoccurring illnesses that plague rural Honduran communities.
